THE RACE
If you missed the race, check out !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . All of the replays can be found there. Special thanks to everyone who streamed. It was a long race that produced some of the best battles I’ve ever seen. We lost a few people along the way, in true vintage racing fashion, but endurance racing is not without its casualties.
RESULTS
Here are the results by class, as well as a picture of the car used by each driver. Special thanks to Alphalead15 for organizing the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Sorry to blunion05 and bananapieking9, as your cars would not show up in the replays.

THOUGHTS AND COMMENTS
32 people. Thirty. Two. People! 2 lobbies! This is the biggest race in Forza that has ever been run on Oppositelock, to my knowledge. It’s also the first time I’ve ever had to coordinate two lobbies (special thanks to kiwichris1709 for hosting Lobby 2), so considering that I think it went pretty smoothly. Despite the delays caused by crashes and server issues from Turn 10's masterpiece of a game. But once the race started, oh my. The racing I saw at Daytona was some of the closest and most intense I’ve ever seen. Battles lasted anywhere from 45 minutes to the whole race. 1st through 3rd in GT in Lobby 1 finished 100 ft apart! If we can keep these numbers and this type of racing up all season, this will be a truly fantastic series.
However, with intense racing comes incidents. There were some questionable multi-class overtaking maneuvers, an issue where someone overtook the whole field under caution, and a poor call on my part in regards to something that absolutely should have been a caution. For a race this large and long, I expected some issues, and the fact that there were issues isn’t exactly the end of the world. Mistakes happen. But I’m hoping to avoid some of this going forward. I don’t like people’s races being hampered, especially when I cause it. Since we’re one race in now, though, I have no doubt that everything will go smoother since we’re all acquainted with the cars and racing against each other now.
Now, onto the next race. Watkins Glen! The voting thread for the date will be up within the next few days, and I’ll try to give as many options as possible for dates and times again. Also, there is a very good chance that the build rules will change for the next round. All of the big-engined cars could really stretch their legs at Daytona and the buzzboxes needed a lot of power to keep up. Now that we’re moving on to normal tracks, I’m expecting that they’ll be a bit too fast now. Expect a major shake up in BoP, potentially even in Sports-Proto. After this though, I think BoP will remain relatively unchanged until Le Mans. New BoP should be done at least a week before the next race. I’ll keep you all posted.
What a way to kick off this series. Congrats to everyone who raced, regardless of position. This was a hard fought race, and I cannot wait for the next round!

Really wish I could have watched some of the really good racing from Lobby 2 but the replay died. Well done T10.

Shoutout to Forza for only recording the first 20 minutes of races.

They seriously don’t record more than 20min even in FM7??

I got about 40 minutes but I think it broke about the time I went into pit for the first time.

I’ll admit it, I was the guy who passed the field on the yellow in lobby 2. I can tell you why too.
Because there was only one person in Discord for lobby 2, and nobody thought to do microphone checks before the racing started.
Since I couldn’t hear when the yellow was called, I came around a corner, right through the GT field that were spaced on the sides of the track, and into the Prototype field STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRACK. After the crash, I nursed the car around to the pits, then stopped off track to wait for everyone to pass while the text messages on the discord server shouted about how I had screwed up.
We need to be able to hear the lobby leaders if we’re going to be able to follow instructions mid race. Just saying...

Yeah I had heard you were having mic trouble. Was it at least showing that people were talking? If you couldn’t see or hear people talking it might be a connection issue but if you just couldn’t hear then its probably something with your output settings. If you’re free at some point I can round up some people (or at least myself) and we can troubleshoot it.
Don’t be upset about this by the way. It’s really not that big of a deal, but I just felt like it had to be addressed in some capacity. Especially since I want to try and fix it so no one ends up in a scenario like this again.

I was able to hear Sprayed loud and clear through both the xbox and Discord. Early on I was able to hear the guys who eventually dropped out, but everyone else was just a mumble. Discord would highlight names to indicate that they were talking, but I was never able to hear them. My impression was that others weren’t actually talking into their mics, but had them out of line with their mouths.
I’m only upset in that I don’t want it to happen again for anyone, not just me. Perhaps a couple of guidelines as well. Part of the issue was their stopping immediately after a curve (in the middle of the infield turns). I couldn’t see them when I came around, so of course I overran. If a full course caution is called, it would only make sense to do it on a straight, not the curviest portion of the track. I hate to ask for more rules, but maybe this is one that’s needed.

That’s weird. Maybe the volume on your end needs bumped up? Doesn’t explain you losing them over time. Maybe Discord just went down for you. Either way if you were just hearing mumbles bump up volume, you can do it on an individual basis as well. We’ll have to test it out sometime before the next round. There will probably be another big practice beforehand again.
And yeah the rule is to roll at 60 mph under caution. I wasn’t in Lobby 2 so I’m not sure why they stopped but they should have been rolling at 60. But a caution can be called anywhere on track. The field should keep moving though, with everyone except the leader at race pace until they have caught up with the leader, who’s rolling at 60.

Oh they were stopped dead. In the Middle. Of the Track. the overall speed through that section for a GT car isn’t much over 60, so had they kept moving I wouldn’t have even come across them until the banked section. They had done a caution earlier and I never even came up on the overall pack. I even heard Sprayed repeat that they were doing the caution, so I could slow down.
I’ll try to jump in when there’s a practice and see what’s going on with it. I didn’t know that I could bump up volume on individuals through Discord, or I would have tried that. Like I said, I could hear Sprayed loud and clear the whole time. If I bumped up my overall volume, he would have been keeping my neighbors awake...

Yeah I remember actually having to turn down Spray’s volume because he was so loud lol. So individual volumes might be the problem then. If not, we’ll just have to troubleshoot it at some point.
